Congratulations Employee of the Month…Michael Black, Service Department
Michael began his employ with the City in June of 2013. He is our part-time Service Facility maintenance employee.
Some of Michael’s job duties entail; recreation field maintenance, city street cold-patch efforts, culvert repair, and assistance with our street sign efforts. Michael thoroughly enjoys his job and working. He loves the diversity each day brings. He loves to learn the many trades the service department envelops as he states “he up for the challenge”.
Michael’s outlook on life is living each day as it is a gift. Michael stated after having been confined and not being able to do anything for four years has given him another lease on life and he wants to take advantage of every moment.
His sense of pride emanated as he talked about working and being the best he can be. His ‘old fashioned’ sense of a good workout is shoveling, ditch digging just anything to build up a sweat. His passion is the outdoors and staying busy and loves this time of the year. He stated he has the best of both worlds working in the Service Department. The guys are great to work with. Working outdoors he said is almost like a lost art, he doesn’t need to go to the gym to work out.
During Michael’s free time he enjoys hiking in the Metro Parks, walking the many challenging trails throughout and sometimes confesses he pushes it to the extreme.
Michael also enjoys family and spending time with Roscoe, his gentile spirited 2-year old black Pitbull rescue from North Carolina.
We thank Michael for his dedication and his love for the City.
