Congratulations Employee of the Month…Glenn Nicholl, SRO/FT Police Officer
Glenn began his employ with the City of Macedonia in 1991 as a part-time Patrolman and then became full time in 1996. He also worked for the city of Stow prior for 3 years as a reserve police officer.
Glenn was recently appointed as our School Resource Officer. Glenn assists with in-school suspension classes, follows up with teachers regarding issues that may arise, does in-school presentations as well as participates in their government classes. Glenn also is in charge of the Juvenile Diversion hearings and respective follow-thru. The purpose of the Juvenile Diversion Program is to provide youthful offenders with a positive alternative to the court system. Young offenders will participate in structured activities and group interactions which are intended to improve their understanding and perception of the legal system and law enforcement, increase their self-esteem, teach them better methods of communication, and improve their decision making skills.
Glenn is a proponent of keeping a presence in our schools along with keeping communication open and building a rapport with our youth of the community.
Glenn also assists our City Prosecutor with Mayor’s Court preparation for all cases; thus freeing up our Detective Bureaus from that aspect.
Glenn is a resident of Northfield Center, married to his lovely wife, Judy. He has 3 children ages 23, 21 and 19. Glenn served as a Cub Scout Leader, baseball coach and instructed PSR. Glenn is a 1981 graduate from Nordonia High School and has been involved in the community ever since.
When asked who influenced him to get into police work, Glenn stated he just “hung out with Macedonia police officers!” Glenn’s colleagues have stated he ‘goes above and beyond’. He comes to work at least 1 1/2 hours before his assigned duty begins just to help out where needed.
In Glenn’s ‘off-duty days’ he enjoys riding his Harley motorcycle. He is a member of the Police and Fire Motorcycle Club and has traveled with members of the group from all over the country to Florida and Maine. The Motorcycle Club participates in various causes such as their annual bike ride to Maine to benefit Children’s Diabetes.
We thank Glenn for his continued compassion for the children and young adults of our community; his dedication to his job and keeping our residents and our community as a whole safe.
