Carl
excelled quickly in the fire department. In 1963
he was appointed first lieutenant and in 1965
he was promoted to Captain. On January 2, 1969
Carl was appointed to the position of full time
fireman, the first full time fireman for the Village
of Macedonia. This was quite an honor. Carl did
not slow down. In 1973 he was promoted to Chief
of the department. In 1979 Carl was joined by
two more full time firefighters. Carl retired
in 1989 after 28 years serving the citizens of
Macedonia. During this time he held positions
on many committees and associations, among them
president of summit county fireman's association.
To
his family and friends, we share in your loss.
To Nora, Mike, and Sue, thank you for sharing
him with us. For truly Carl served over 44 years
of his life whether in the Armed Forces, his own
service station, or for the fire services. Carl
stood in a position of vital importance to all
of us, And for that we thank him. And yes chief
we will wash all of the trucks as soon as we get
back to the station.
Friends,
Chief Tim Black and the men and women of the Macedonia
Fire Department
