Housing Assistance Programs

Summit County receives funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the CDBG and HOME programs to provide a number of housing-oriented programs for low-to-moderate income households living within Summit County, but outside the Cities of Akron, Barberton or Cuyahoga Falls.

Minor Repairs and Housing Rehabilitation
The Summit County Housing Rehabilitation Program provides 0% and 4% interest loans to eligible homeowners in order to maintain decent, safe and sanitary conditions. Services include emergency repairs, minor rehabilitation and moderate rehabilitation.

First Home, First Loan
Through the First Home, First Loan program, the County will provide a $3 to $1 match to assist eligible first-time home buyers with their down payment and closing costs. A maximum of $14,997 is available as a 2% deferred interest loan.
