CIVIL SERVICE COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION

POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER

Open Period for Accepting Applications: Completed applications accepted via email, mail, fax or hand-delivery no sooner than Monday, May 20, 2019 thru Friday June 14, 2019 (excluding Thursdays; Mon, May 27th & Weds, June 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. No application will be accepted after 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019. Falsification of any part of app will result in immediate disqualification. Completed app whether emailed, mailed, faxed, hand-delivered by applicant or applicant’s representative must be received no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2019. Wages & Benefits: Competitive salary; current contract in negotiation. Contract includes annual shooting bonus, clothing allowance and shift differential added to base salary. Other benefits: medical, dental, vision and life coverage. [Prior service: Any appointment transferring from another public agency to Macedonia as a full-time police officer shall be credited with unused balance of their accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of 960 sick hours]

Qualifications: Must be a U.S citizen. Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent and be 21 years of age at time of application. Must possess valid Ohio drivers’ license and must currently be commissioned in Ohio as a peace officer, or have taken and passed within last 2-years an OPOTA certification exam or be currently enrolled in an accredited police academy and be fully graduated at time of appointment. Documentation must accompany application.

Written Exam: Wednesday, June 26, 2019, 6:30 p.m., Macedonia City Center, 9691 Valley View Road, Community Room, Lower level. Photo ID required.

Additional Credit: Given to candidates with passing grade of 70%; 5 points with minimum 2-years police officer experience; 5 points for associate degree in Criminal Justice and 5 points for military service. (DD 214 stating honorable discharge must be provided) Documentation must be on file with Macedonia Civil Commission no later than June 26, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.

Physical Agility Test: Administered by Tri C Police Training Academy, Western Campus, Parma, Ohio. Tri C-Certificate of Completion of PAT is valid for one-year from date of issuance. Candidates who do not possess valid Certification of Completion are solely responsible for contacting Tri C at 216.987.3033 to schedule PAT prior to Macedonia’s written exam. Per Tri C testing schedule exam offered June 9, 2019. Registration required. Candidates who do not submit requisite Certificate of Completion with completed application MUST submit said certificate to Macedonia Civil Service Commission no later than June 26, 2019 @ 6:30 pm.

Final review and certification of the eligibility list is at the sole discretion of the Macedonia Civil Service Commission.

Eligible candidate(s) required to take and pass psychological, physical and polygraph tests. Other testing includes EKG, drug screening (periodic drug screening during employment required) background check, and personal interview with the appointing authority. Eligible candidate(s) required to be a non-smoker and remain a non-smoker for duration of employment.
