CIVIL SERVICE POSITION

Non-refundable Fee of $30 in the form of cash or money order payable to City of Macedonia upon receipt of blank application.

Salary Range, Benefits: $41,350 -$51,251 plus $1,000 annual firearms qualification bonus, longevity pay, medical, vision and dental coverage, 80 hours of vacation after 1-year of service, 13 paid holidays and uniform allowance as established by contract.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and must be 21 years of age at time of application. Must possess valid Ohio drivers’ license and be currently commissioned in Ohio as a peace officer, or have taken and passed within the last two years an OPATA certification exam.

Written Exam: May 1, 2007 at 6:30pm, Macedonia City Center, 9691 Valley View Road. Community Room, Lower level. Photo ID required.

Additional Credit given to candidates with passing grade of 70%; 10 points to current part-time police officers of City of Macedonia having minimum one year of service at date of written exam; 5 points for an associate degree in Criminal Justice and 5 points for military service. Documentation relative to the above must be on file with the Macedonia Civil Commission by date of written exam.

Physical Agility Test: Administered by Police Training Academy at Tri C Western Campus, Parma, Ohio. Valid Tri C agility certificate of accomplishments and score must be submitted with application or to Macedonia Civil Service Commission no later than May 25, 2007 to remain eligible candidates. Final review and certification of the eligibility list is at the sole discretion of the Macedonia Civil Service Commission.

Eligible candidate(s) required to take and pass psychological, physical and polygraph tests. Other testing includes EKG, drug screening (periodic drug screening during employment required) background check, and personal interview with the appointing authority. Eligible candidate(s) required to be a non-smoker and remain a non-smoker for duration of employment.
