CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

ROAD CLOSURES

Highland Rd. Closure extended until 11 p.m.

State Route 8 in Macedonia (Wednesday, April 14)
A SHORT SECTION OF Highland Rd between SR 8 and Olde Eight under the newly constructed SR 8/I-271 ramps will be closed for sewer installation and pavement repair.  This closure will occur on Tuesday, April 14 from 9 am until 11 pm. The detour will be Olde Eight to SR 82 to SR 8.

As a reminder, SR-8 under I-271 will have possible lane restrictions in either of both directions weekdays from 9am until 3 pm.  This work is part of a $109.7 million project for the reconstruction of SR 8 from just south of Twinsburg Road to just north of I-271.  Five new bridges will be constructed.  The existing ramps will be improved. New ramps will be built to access I-271 from SR 8 northbound and SR 8 southbound from I-271 southbound.  The entire project is scheduled to be complete by mid-summer 2010.

SUMMIT COUNTY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Twinsburg Road Closure
Twinsburg Road in the City of Macedonia closes April 23 until fall 2009. The posted detours are:
  • Northbound: Hines Hill Road to Walters Road to Twinsburg Road
  • Southbound: Hines Hill Road to Olde 8 Road
As a reminder, State Route 8 in Boston Heights, Macedonia and Northfield Center Township has various daily lane restrictions in the following areas from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
  • SR 8 under I-271
  • Northbound SR 8 over Brandywine Creek
  • Highland Road west of SR 8 is reduced to one lane.
These restrictions will be in place until late April.

Interstate 271/SR 8 in Macedonia and Northfield Center Township I-271/SR 8 has various nightime lane restrictions in either direction from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This work is part of the $91 million project for the reconstruction of SR 8 from just south of Twinsburg Road to just north of the I-271 interchange. Five new bridges will be constructed. The existing ramps will be improved. New two-lane ramps will be built to access I-271 from SR 8 northbound and SR 8 southbound from I-271 southbound. Included is a new service road from Hines Hill Road. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late summer 2010.
