Macedonia Fire Department Responds to Industrial Fire at Jamestown Container Companies

MACEDONIA, Ohio – On Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Macedonia Fire Department responded to a significant industrial fire at Jamestown Container Companies, a corrugated packaging facility on Bavaria Drive East.

The fire was dispatched at 5:33 p.m., with the first unit arriving on the scene at 5:41 p.m. Initial reports indicated the fire began in a machine called a bailer at the rear of the building. Inside, bales of cardboard, stacked 12 to 15 feet high, were burning deep within their cores. After a short time on scene, crews identified that they had two separate fires in the building, each on separate sides of the building. Fire command upgraded their fire response and requested more departments. The first couple of hours, there were two fire attacks going on at the same time on opposite sides of the large building. The crew on the other side of the building from the bailer was fighting a fire in a machine called a cutter. Both fires were contained to the machinery and products around the machinery. At no time was the building structure involved in fire. Crews worked through heavy smoke conditions inside the building and were required to methodically break down the bales of cardboard to fully extinguish smoldering hot spots.

The fire was brought under control by 8:56 p.m. While containment was achieved quickly, firefighters remained on scene through the night to address lingering hot spots. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.

Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Twinsburg, Hudson, Aurora, Valley Fire District, Oakwood, Stow, Streetsboro, and Northfield Village, as well as Hudson EMS. The American Red Cross responded to provide food and support for firefighters at the scene.

The City of Macedonia and the Macedonia Fire Department wish to express their gratitude for the community’s outpouring of support, including generous donations of food and beverages. Special thanks are extended to the Red Cross and 330 To Go for helping share that request.
