Congratulations Employee of the Month…Sergeant Sean Hathaway, Police
Sean Hathaway began his employment with the City of Macedonia in January of 2012. Sean came from Springfield Township, a suburb of Akron, in order to provide a better opportunity for his family. He served as a patrolman there for two years.
During Sean’s five years working for Macedonia he has become a member of the K9 Unit and was recently promoted to Sergeant. Sean currently has two K9 Partner’s, Haro and Apollo. Haro is a 4 year old German Shepherd, and Apollo is a two year old Belgian Malinois. Haro and Apollo provide the City with services such as tracking, narcotics detection, and suspect apprehension. They are also very well liked in the community and love the attention they receive from all of our residents. In addition to working with his K9 partner’s, Sean also has all of the usual patrol duties, such as responding to calls for service and traffic enforcement.
Prior to law enforcement, Sean was in the Marines for six years. He was deployed to Iraq in 2005, where he served for seven months. Sean stated that the Marines taught him leadership, responsibility, discipline, and team work.
In June of 2012, Sean earned his bachelor’s degree in legal studies (Law). He is still looking to attend grad school with plans of teaching on the side.
When asked who influenced him the most in his life, Sean stated his Grandfather, who was President of International Sales at Goodyear. Sean is proud to now serve alongside his brother, Jay Hathaway, who was recently hired by Macedonia Police.
