Congratulations Employee of the Month… John Doyle, Recreation Department
John Doyle has been employed as the Aquatics Coordinator at Macedonia Family Recreation Center for 5 ½ years. John grew up in Winona, Ohio, a rural town in Columbiana County, nearly two hours southeast of Cleveland. John attended The University of Mount Union – home of the Purple Raiders – and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Sports Management. While there, John was in the choir, played soccer and performed in many musical theater productions, becoming a member of APO, the National Theater Honors Society.
John loves sports, and continues his love of soccer by coaching the J.V. Boys soccer team at Solon High School, where he has been for the past five seasons. John is very passionate about music. He has played the piano for nearly twenty five years, sings, and performs on stage in the theater. You may have recently seen him performing as Mark in “RENT” at Aurora Community Theater.
John is also an outdoor enthusiast. In his spare time, he enjoys backpacking, rock climbing, bicycling, and kayaking. He leads a backpacking trip each summer for the University of Mount Union to one of his favorite spots, the High Peaks region in the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York.
John genuinely enjoys working in the field of recreation. He loves teaching swim lessons and interacting with the patrons of the Recreation Center. John stated that he is very grateful for an amazing aquatic staff that helps him do his job better! In addition to aquatics, John helps out at various events and programs. Most recently, he played an integral role in helping to organize the “Spirit of Macedonia” Community Festival. He feels extremely honored to receive the employee of the month award! Congratulations, John!
